To be filled with the HolySpirit is the act of God's Spirit coming upon you. According the the book of Acts 1:8 'But you shall receive power , after the Holy Spirit has come upon you'.

There is a difference between some one filled with Holy Spirit and speaking in tongue. Most of people think that when someone is praying in tongue, it means that the person is filled with Holy Spirit, not knowing that praying in toungue is graced by God.

Some one to be filled with Holy Spirit, is God's promise to His people, when we read, the gospel of Luke 24:49 'And behold I send the promise of my Father upon you,"

Speaking Or praying in tongue is one of the nine gifts of the holypsirit to His people, when we read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 "4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit. 9 To another faith by the same Spirit, to another the gift of healing by the same Spirit. 10 To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But in all these works that one and the same Spirit, dividing to every man individually as he will.

The importance of being filled with Holy Spirit as child of God.
  1. Through the Holy Spirit people gave prophecy. When we read the book of Number 11:25-29 ] And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.[26] But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.[27] And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.[28] And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.[29] And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!'
  2. Elijah and Elisha were filled with Spirit of God, and many miracles were done by the power of the Spirit of God insude them. when we read 2kings 2:15. [15] And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
  3. When one is filled with the Holy Spirit, he get opportunity of serving God without any fear in him/her. When we read Luke 4:18-20 '18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,[19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord'.
  4. You get the opportunity of being led with the Holy Spirit, Most of people do not consult divine leadership from above, and end up becoming failures. When we read Luke 4:1, Jesus Christ was led by Holy Spirit, ' 1] And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
  5. You get the chance to taught and reminded of teachings of Jesus Christ, for the scripture says in the gospel of John 14:25-26'25] These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you'.
  6. The Holy Spirit will alawys reveal to you things in past and yet to come, when we read in the book of Ezekiel 37:1-14,'[1] The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,[2] And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.[3] And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.[4] Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.[5] Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:[6] And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.[7] So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.[8] And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.[9] Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.[10] So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.[11] Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.[12] Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.[13] And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,[14] And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD. Also the book of Acts 11:27-30 [27] And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.[28] And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.[29] Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:[30] Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Some of the references of the works of Holy Spirit early church.

  1. How the Spirit was responsible to the preparation of Apostles and establishment of churches. The bible says in book of Acts 2:1-41'[1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.[5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.[6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.[7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?[8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?[9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,[10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,[11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.[12] And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?[13] Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.[14] But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:[15] For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.[16] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;[17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:[18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:[19] And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:[20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:[21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.[22] Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:[23] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:[24] Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.[25] For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:[26] Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:[27] Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.[28] Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.[29] Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.[30] Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;[31] He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.[32] This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.[33] Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.[34] For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,[35] Until I make thy foes thy footstool.[36] Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.[39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.[40] And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.[41] Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls
  2. The filling of the Holy Spirit was routinely done. When we read Acts 4:8' Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, Acts 6:8-10'8] And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.[9] Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.[10] And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

May GOD bless you as you get ready to be filled with Holy Spirit.

Just after the word, God manifested Himself by filling many with His Spirit, here are some of people who could not withstand the power of GOD.
